SfN Launches Optogenetics Online Training Series, Virtual Conference Registration
SfN on Wednesday, August 1, released its inaugural online training series on Neuronline, offering SfN members and the field at-large around the world unparalleled opportunities to learn from more than 20 global pioneers of optogenetics approaches.
Through an upcoming and eight , neuroscientists will be able to enhance their knowledge about how to use optogenetics techniques appropriately, effectively, and rigorously.
Training Modules Available Now
The series’ eight training modules, organized in partnership with neuroscientists (Albert Einstein College of Medicine), , (University of California, San Francisco) and (NIH Intramural Research Program/NIAAA), consist of:
- Short lectures and demonstration videos, written articles, and recommended reading lists you can access anytime.
- A Module 7 will occur on August 16 from 1–2 p.m. EDT, and you can post your questions at any time before then or live. The Module 8 will be open for your questions at any time by the end of August 30.
- A to share your insights and best practices, ask questions, and engage with other training series’ participants.
SfN members enjoy unlimited access to all resources in the eight training modules, and non-SfN members can explore up to five resources (excluding community forums) every 30 days.

Virtual Conference September 20
The culminating virtual conference, , is organized in partnership with (University of California, San Francisco) and (NIH Intramural Research Program/NIAAA). While it is recommended you view some resources in the training modules before attending, you can participate without doing so.
