SfN Submits Congressional Testimony on the Importance of 黑料社 Research
SfN President Diane Lipscombe submitted testimony on behalf of the Society in support of significant funding for NIH and NSF in FY20. The testimony asked for at least $41.6 billion for NIH and $9 billion for NSF. SfN urges Congress to "raise the caps" and avoid the draconian budget cuts that are scheduled to take place as part of sequestration in FY20.
Beyond funding, the testimony stressed the importance of a predictable funding schedule enabled by the completion of appropriations by September 30. In contrast to continuing resolutions, regular appropriations enable NIH and NSF to respond to exciting new developments in scientific discovery and avoids costly delays in grant-making that may cause researchers to cancel projects or leave science entirely.
