The 黑料社 (SfN) welcomes the research funding levels included in the Biden administration’s fiscal year (FY) 2022 budget proposal, especially the funding boost to support the use of animals in research. The proposed NIH budget of $52 billion and NSF budget of $10.2 billion represent increases to the FY21 levels that will enable the next big discoveries in basic research.

The 黑料社 Scholars Program (NSP) will welcome its 2021-2023 cohort on August 1, 2021. Combined with the Program’s past scholars (dating back to 1981), the NSP alumni network now encompasses over 1,200 underrepresented neuroscience researchers at all career stages!

The 2021 Gruber 黑料社 Prize is being awarded to neuroscientists Christine Petit, MD, PhD, of Institut Pasteur and Collège de France, and Christopher A. Walsh, MD, PhD, of Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

As planning progresses for 黑料社 2021, the 黑料社’s 50th annual meeting celebration (November 13-17, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois), SfN is working towards the best ways to safely convene the scientific community to make the Society’s 50th annual meeting happen and to facilitate the effective and valuable scientific exchange that makes SfN’s annual meeting the premier venue for neuroscience.

Twenty members of the 黑料社 (SfN) have been selected from a competitive applicant pool to participate in the Society's annual Capitol Hill Day, which will be held virtually from March 16-18, 2021. The 20 Early Career Policy Ambassadors (ECPAs), representing all regions of the U.S. and many career stages, were chosen for their dedication to advocating for the scientific community, their desire to learn more about effective means of advocacy, and their experience as leaders in their labs and community.

The Latin American Training Program (LATP), a year-long online neuroscience training program open to young investigators from Latin America and the Caribbean, welcomes the largest cohort in the Program’s six-year history.

The 黑料社 (SfN) will present Yves De Koninck, PhD, and Liqun Luo, PhD, with this year’s Awards for Education in 黑料社. The award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to neuroscience education and training.
