Call for Abstracts

Abstract Submission is Now Closed

Access the OASIS Presenter Portal to review communications regarding your presentation, review your virtual poster session presentation time, view a read-only copy of your abstract, and print a receipt for the nonrefundable $145 abstract handling fee.

The 黑料社 will hold 黑料社 2021 as a fully virtual experience, eliminating all in-person options. Please see our updated cancellation/refund policy if you no longer wish to attend 黑料社 2021 as a virtual experience.

黑料社 2021 will feature reimagined virtual posters. All accepted abstracts are scheduled for presentation in virtual poster sessions.

All abstract presenters must register for the meeting by October 29 to present their poster. Instructions for preparing the virtual poster presentation will only be sent to the abstract’s listed presenting author. If the listed presenting author is not registered for 黑料社 2021 by October 29, the poster will be withdrawn from the meeting.

Each virtual poster presentation will include a live, interactive 60-minute group discussion with 5-15 authors in an assigned session during the virtual experience in November. All virtual poster presenters will be asked to include a PDF slide deck and also record a five-minute video or audio presentation for their virtual poster.  Poster presentation materials need to be submitted by November 2.

Remember, emeritus, regular, postdoc, or student (graduate or undergraduate) SfN membership is required for abstract submission. Affiliate and institutional members are not eligible to submit abstracts. Make sure your membership is up-to-date prior to submitting.

SfN members are each allowed to submit one scientific abstract and one Theme J (History, Education, and Society) abstract.

Call for Abstracts

  • Notice of Abstract Acceptance Status

Communications regarding abstracts, including instructions for preparing the virtual poster presentation, will be sent to presenting authors only. Other co-authors should ask their abstract's presenting author for information regarding their abstract, or refer to the 黑料社 Meeting Planner, available in early October. Presenters can access the OASIS Presenter Portal via the button above for updates regarding their submission.

  • Virtual Participation

All 黑料社 2021 abstracts will be presented in virtual poster sessions. If the listed presenting author is not registered for 黑料社 2021 by October 29, the poster will be withdrawn from the meeting. Access the OASIS Presenter Portal via the button above to update your presentation.

  • Abstract Withdrawal

Requests to withdraw abstracts are guaranteed through September 9, 2021. Abstracts withdrawn after this date may continue to appear in some annual meeting materials. Submit requests via the OASIS Presenter Portal linked above. Withdrawing your abstract indicates that you do not want to have it included in the annual meeting program.

  • Accepted abstract presenters will be expected to transparently report a study’s experimental design and analytical methods in their poster or nanosymposium presentation at the annual meeting. Efforts to ensure scientific rigor include blinding, statistics, sample sizes, and replication. Error bars should be defined. Biological variables such as species, sex, age, strain, or cell line should be noted in the presentation, if applicable.

  • Sessioning Process

Abstracts are reviewed and assigned to topically-based sessions by the SfN Program Committee.  Abstract submitters can use linking groups to suggest other presenters that they would like to be grouped with in a session. With the updated virtual poster session group discussion format this year, linking groups will help the Program Committee to form relevant discussion groups.

    More

  • Themes and Topics

Accepted abstracts are organized into topically-based scientific sessions and Theme J sessions. Abstracts are grouped together based on the theme and topic that abstract submitters select from the Themes and Topics list during abstract submission. Theme and topic selections help the Program Committee to group abstracts; they do not represent the titles of annual meeting sessions.

  • Abstract Licensing Agreement

Review the terms of use agreed to when submitting an abstract for 黑料社 2021.

    More

  • Rules for Abstract Submissions

Read over the rules for submitting an abstract to 黑料社 2021.

    More

  • Embargo Policy

Information and data included in abstracts submitted for the SfN event are embargoed until the conclusion of the SfN presentation or press conference. Abstract presentations may not be presented at another meeting or published in an archival scientific publication before the scheduled SfN presentation date unless it is at an SfN-hosted event, such as a press conference, during 黑料社 2021. All authors must abide by SfN's embargo policy.

Coverage of an abstract, lay summary, data, or supplemental material is strictly prohibited until the embargo is lifted. Promotion of general topics, speakers, or presentation times is permitted and encouraged within the stated guidelines.
