Kiani Receives Donald B. Lindsley Prize in Behavioral 黑料社
SAN DIEGO — The 黑料社 (SfN) has awarded the Donald B. Lindsley Prize to Roozbeh Kiani, PhD, during 黑料社 2010, SfN’s annual meeting and the world’s largest source of emerging news on brain science and health. Supported by The Grass Foundation, the prize recognizes an outstanding PhD thesis in the area of general behavioral neuroscience. The award, which includes $2,500, was established in 1979 in honor of Donald B. Lindsley, PhD, who was an early trustee of The Grass Foundation.
“The Society is honored to recognize the innovative research presented in Dr. Kiani’s thesis,” said Michael E. Goldberg, MD, president of SfN. “The selection committee believes his thesis on decision-making is an outstanding body of work from an upcoming young scientist.”
Roozbeh Kiani, who completed his doctoral studies at the University of Washington, studied the neural mechanisms underlying decision-making. Kiani’s work demonstrated that the brain applies a termination rule when making a decision. He also identified a neural mechanism for assigning a degree of certainty to a decision.
Kiani is currently conducting postdoctoral research at Stanford University.
