The ºÚÁÏÉç will hold ºÚÁÏÉç 2021 as a fully virtual experience, eliminating all in-person options that had been planned for McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois. ºÚÁÏÉç 2021 will take place online November 8-11, 2021, with Preview Days taking place November 3-7, which allows attendees to preview posters as well as full symposia and minisymposia talks prior to the official meeting dates.

SfN enthusiastically announces that ºÚÁÏÉç 2021 will be held in an inclusive hybrid format. ºÚÁÏÉç 2021 is one annual meeting with two experiences: for the first time, a four-day full virtual program (November 8-11, 2021) including reimagined virtual posters, and a four-day full in-person program in Chicago at McCormick Place Convention Center (November 13–16, 2021).

The ºÚÁÏÉç (SfN) welcomes the research funding levels included in the Biden administration’s fiscal year (FY) 2022 budget proposal, especially the funding boost to support the use of animals in research. The proposed NIH budget of $52 billion and NSF budget of $10.2 billion represent increases to the FY21 levels that will enable the next big discoveries in basic research.

The ºÚÁÏÉç Scholars Program (NSP) will welcome its 2021-2023 cohort on August 1, 2021. Combined with the Program’s past scholars (dating back to 1981), the NSP alumni network now encompasses over 1,200 underrepresented neuroscience researchers at all career stages!

The 2021 Gruber ºÚÁÏÉç Prize is being awarded to neuroscientists Christine Petit, MD, PhD, of Institut Pasteur and Collège de France, and Christopher A. Walsh, MD, PhD, of Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

As planning progresses for ºÚÁÏÉç 2021, the ºÚÁÏÉç’s 50th annual meeting celebration (November 13-17, 2021 in Chicago, Illinois), SfN is working towards the best ways to safely convene the scientific community to make the Society’s 50th annual meeting happen and to facilitate the effective and valuable scientific exchange that makes SfN’s annual meeting the premier venue for neuroscience.
